For the 12th year in a row, the region’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives (including Tri-State) were riding high in the saddle at the 2010 National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, going on through Jan. 24 in Denver. As sponsors of the heart-pounding Touchstone Energy draft-horse hitch, we know power and we know how to use it wisely.
Thousands of show goers stopped by the KYGO radio booth in the Coliseum Jan. 15-17 where several Colorado Touchstone Energy co-ops were spreading the Together We Save campaign message. Visitors received a reusable grocery bag stocked with a “101 Easy Ways to Save Energy and Money” booklet and they signed up for chance to win a gift certificate to Lowe’s toward the purchase of a new Energy Star appliance.
Kids enjoyed showing their power by energizing the light bulb hand crank demonstration. When the switch was flipped, it was obvious how much energy can be saved by using CFL bulbs. About 75 percent less as a matter of fact.
Participating co-ops on-site at the Stock Show included United Power, Mountain View Electric, Poudre Valley REA, San Isabel Electric, Morgan County REA, K.C. Electric and Tri-State G&T.
