Tri-Staters step up to help keep neighbors warm

7News anchors Ana Cabrera and Mitch Jelniker unload the coats donated by Tri-State headquarters employees.

Although it still feels like summer outside, the winter cold is just around the corner. Tri-State headquarters staff know this well and made the effort to donate dozens of warm jackets to Coats for Colorado as part of the association’s Steps to Sustainability event last week.

The Coats for Colorado program provides warm winter coats at no cost to Coloradoans of all ages. The state’s largest coat drive has provided well over 1,700,000 coats to Colorado citizens since it was established in 1982 by Dependable Cleaners.

The coats collected and delivered by Tri-State arrived at the 7News television studios just in time for the kick-off of this year’s campaign on the morning of Oct. 3. Gently used winter coats will be collected through Nov. 30 at any of the 30+ Dependable Cleaners locations or at special collection events.

The jackets and coats collected will help assist more than 120 non-profit health and human service agencies in meeting the needs of their clients and provide winter jackets to thousands of individuals and families. Last year alone, more than 77,000 coats were distributed.
