The inaugural Pedal the Plains cycling tour will roll across the eastern plains of Colorado September 21-23.
Even if you’re not riding in or watching the event, you can help Tri-State, Colorado Rural Electric Association and the rest of Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives increase awareness of rural electric co-ops and raise money for Energy Outreach Colorado.
CREA has coordinated the Colorado Touchstone Energy Cooperative team of 12 riders, which includes Tri-State’s own (fleet manager) Terri Marranzino-Ray. Team members are accepting tax-deductible pledges and donations on behalf of Energy Outreach Colorado, a non-profit organization that helps struggling families pay their heating bills.
The three-day event is designed for cyclists of all ages and abilities and will cover between 30-100 miles every day, with riders stopping in rural communities along the way and ending in a new host community each evening — including Yuma, Wray and Burlington.
CREA, several Colorado Touchstone Energy Co-ops and Tri-State will host informative booths at points of interests along the route. Learn more at the co-ops’ Powering the Plains Web site.
