Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Co-ops team up to support St. Jude’s Kids

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world.

On November 8 and 9, Tri-State will team up with member systems and fellow Touchstone Energy co-ops Morgan County REA, Mountain View Electric, Poudre Valley REA and United Power to continue a nearly decade-long tradition of serving as a presenting sponsor of the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon on 98.5 FM KYGO.

The annual event helps raise tens of thousands of dollars to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works to find cures for children across the country with cancer and other life-threatening diseases through research and treatment at no cost to families, beyond what their insurance covers.

Last year’s event was the most successful ever – raising a total of $105,375 to help support children’s cancer treatment at the facility.

Country Cares for St. Jude Kids began in 1989 with a challenge from country music star Randy Owen.

Along with supporting St. Jude’s and putting into action one of Touchstone Energy’s core values, commitment to community, the participating cooperatives will receive promotional mentions and 60-second radio spots on KYGO.

The commercials highlight the co-ops’ support of St. Jude’s and promote the ongoing national Touchstone Energy “Together We Save” campaign. They also include a thank-you to Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives from some of country music’s biggest stars, such as Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts.

Country Cares for St. Jude Kids began in 1989 when Country Music Hall-of-Famer Randy Owen challenged the country music industry to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude. The industry has continued to rise to the challenge by raising more than $400 million so far.
