Congratulations to Angela Torres, senior manager of supply services, on receiving the Institute for Supply Management – Cooperative Utilities’ (ISM-CU) Solon Bennett Award on March 6, at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Tech Advantage conference held in Nashville, Tenn.
Solon Anthony Bennett was a former Director of Purchases and Stores for the City of Austin, Texas and an NRECA supply consultant.
The Solon Bennett Award is the highest honor that the Cooperative Utilities Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management presents each year. This award is given to a person chosen by the ISM-CU Solon Bennett Award Selection Committee from written nominations submitted by a member of the ISM-CU affiliate. Torres was nominated by a member from Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Bismarck, N.D.).
Torres attributed her involvement with the original NRECA National Discounts Program to being selected for this honor. The Tri-State senior manager has worked with other cooperatives from across the country to help raise the Rural Utilities Service’s (RUS) monetary purchasing levels and reduce the amount of time and paperwork required when using RUS funds to purchase equipment and complete generation and transmission projects.
