Tri-State sponsors awards at Nebraska State FFA Convention

Neb_FFATri-State’s education and leadership development programs are an important part of its longstanding community outreach efforts to assist in the development of the next generation of leaders in the many rural communities served by its membership.

In line with those educational efforts, the association recently sponsored and judged the Electrical Technology Entrepreneurship Placement Proficiency Awards event held at the Nebraska State Future Farmers of America (FFA) State Convention held in Lincoln, Neb.

Approximately 3,800 members of the Nebraska FFA descended on Lincoln for the 86th State FFA Convention held April 9-11.

At the conference, the future agrarians attend workshops and classes, listen to motivational speakers, meet with advisors and fellow FFA members, attend an annual career fair and compete in leadership skill events.

Nebraska FFA members are also enrolled in agricultural education courses, conduct a supervised agriculture experience (SAE) program and can participate in a variety of FFA competitions. One of those competitions was the Electrical Technology Proficiency Award sponsored by Tri-State.  Trent Faltys of Schuyler, Neb., placed first in this category and will go on to represent Nebraska at the national FFA convention slated this fall in Louisville, Ky.

These awards encourage members to develop specialized skills that they hope to apply toward a future career.  Members are recognized at the local, state and national levels.

The Nebraska FFA has a current membership of over 6,600 members in 148 chapters. Nebraska was the sixth state chartered by the National FFA organization in 1928.
